a very lost tooth

losttooth, originally uploaded by skweerell.

Roen's tooth was loose and wiggly and we were anticipating it's loss. Today, we ate pizza for lunch and shortly after we finished, Ro pointed out that his tooth was gone. I think it got stuck in a bite of pizza and he swallowed it. He wasn't too concerned about it so I didn't make a big deal about it.

A few days earlier, I'd talked to him briefly about the tooth fairy and putting his tooth under his pillow. I was on the verge of making him a special tooth pocket to put the tooth in -- when he swallowed it. In this case, my inability to get craft projects done actually came to my advantage. If I'd presented him with the special pocket and then he'd swallowed his tooth, I think he would have been devastated. So, we just let this tooth slide on by.

Ro is really into the new space in his mouth. I forever find him peering into the mirror looking at the empty space left behind. He recently discovered that he could squirt tooth paste bubbles out of it and was quite pleased.

My daughter lost one of her teeth while we were in a movie theater. She ended up dropping it on the floor and wanted me to get on my hands and knees on the sticky soda-coated floor to find it. I finally talked her into leaving it at the theater and writing a note to the tooth fairy informing her of where to find it. The tooth fairy must have been ok with having to go to the theater to pick up the tooth because she left money under my daughter's pillow that night. :)
